Frequently asked
questions

Answers to common questions about collaborations, data access, and partnerships.

Data access

?
Can researchers access ST Math data?
Yes, in many cases — subject to partner permissions, privacy requirements, and agreements.
?
What types of data are available?
Common sources include anonymized gameplay/usage logs, progress/mastery indicators, and (when available) linked outcome measures provided by partners.
?
What is the process for requesting data?
Submit the interest form, then we align on feasibility, approvals, and required legal/IRB steps before data transfer.
?
Are there costs associated with data access?
Sometimes. Costs depend on scope, data preparation, security requirements, and staff support. We'll clarify early in scoping.

IRB & ethics

?
Does MIND provide IRB sponsorship?
Typically, researchers use their home institution's IRB. In some partnership structures we can coordinate documentation, but we do not generally "sponsor" external IRBs.
?
How does MIND protect student privacy?
We use data minimization, role-based access, secure transfer/storage practices, and agreements that govern permitted use and retention.

For district & school partners

?
Can districts request custom analyses?
Often yes — especially analyses that support implementation decisions and improvement work. Scope and timelines depend on data availability.
?
Will research findings be shared publicly?
Many projects aim for public dissemination, but outputs are governed by agreements and partner constraints (including privacy and reporting policies).

Collaboration & partnerships

?
Does MIND partner on grant proposals?
Yes, when goals align and capacity allows.
?
Does MIND provide letters of support?
Yes, for aligned proposals after a brief scoping conversation.
?
Does MIND conduct independent or third-party evaluations?
We collaborate with independent evaluation organizations and can support third-party evaluation designs and implementation.
